The Challenge
Bright Matter Productions came to us with a unique challenge: create a 30-second commercial for the Maine Lottery featuring four different decades—’70s, ’80s, ’90s, and 2000s—each represented by the same living room set, but dressed to fit each era. And, of course, they needed it all done within three weeks on a modest budget. Naturally, we’re all in!
The Plan
To nail the look of four distinct eras using XR technology with full tracking and parallax, we divided the workload between our team and a trusted external partner. We managed agency and client reviews with precision, quickly sending approved virtual sets to the Art Department, who sourced the perfect period-specific furnishings to complement the virtual backgrounds.
The Results
Because the shoot was captured in camera with no green screen and compositing required, and with match cuts facilitated with our KIRA motion control cinema robot, Bright Matter Productions was able to move right into post-production without getting bogged down with rotoscoping and green screen compositing. The whole project, from concept to air date, was wrapped up in just four weeks—saving time, money, and delivering an amazing spot that the agency and client absolutely love!
