The Challenge
At the very beginning of the Virtual Production era, we were hired to design and build the first-ever XR stage in Arizona, using Studio Lab’s studios as the design inspiration.
The Plan
We designed two XR volumes. Studio A was a multi-purpose room with both a 70′ x 16′ curved video wall and a green screen on the opposite side of the room. Because the roof couldn’t support the weight needed, we designed a new structure inside the building with a large weight capacity, transferring much of the load to the floor. The Studio B design had a full Virtual Production volume, including a LED floor and wraparound wall.
The Results
We installed Studio B as designed, including the volume and ARRI AMIRA Live cameras. In Studio A, we installed the rigging structure, drapery, lighting and grip.
